Canine Partner Zorro recently made a guest appearance in assembly, at Steyning Primary School, to demonstrate the extraordinary skills learned and
developed by the dogs trained at Canine Partners(www.caninepartners.org.uk). The dogs assist
their partners all of whom have a physical disability. Amongst many
skills, Zorro demonstrated how to remove gloves, take off his partner’s
coat and collect items from a supermarket shelf before putting the
items into the basket. He also showed his remarkable ability to
follow the instructions of his partner, or in this case his handler, Ray
Towning.
The children followed this up with a “non-uniform day” in which, in
return for wearing what they wanted, they paid a fine at the school
gate. £328 was collected and sent to Canine Partners.
